The first time we had a French Gimlet, we did a taste test, comparing it with a Gin & It. We really didn’t care for the Gin & It, which is basically a gin martini made with sweet vermouth. That makes sense, since we are not fond of martini’s or all alcohol cocktails.
The French Gimlet, however, is a lovely cocktail that pairs well with sweet and savoury appetizers. It’s on the sweeter side thanks to the St. Germain, which I also love. If you like it less sweet, reduce the St. Germain slightly and increase the lime juice.
As usual, our gin of choice is Dillon’s Dry 7. It’s botanical forward and local.
