“You can use white or red cabbage in this recipe but the red cabbage looks beautiful on the table. This salad lasts for more than 7 days. We have enjoyed it in the fridge for up to 14 days. The longer it sits, the better.”
- 1 head cabbage
- 1 large onion
- 3/4 cup white vinegar
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 2 teaspoon celery seed
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- Shred cabbage and slice onion. Combine.
- Put remaining ingredients in microwave proof bowl or in saucepan. Bring to a boil, then cool slightly.
- Pour over shredded cabbage and onion and stir.
- Refrigerate for 7 to 14 days.
