“This sauce goes well with Mom’s Apple Cake and with Apple Dumplings. ”
INGREDIENTS
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon flour
- pinch salt
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- nutmeg to taste
DIRECTIONS
- Mix sugar, flour and salt in small saucepan.
- Add boiling water. Cook on low for 5 minutes until thickened.
- Melt in butter.
- Remove from heat, add vanilla and nutmeg.
- Serve warm over apple cake, apple dumplings or similar savoury dessert.
Yield: 1 1/2 cups
