I read a cool article today on How Big A Backyard Do You Need To Live Off The Land? While we are nowhere close the achieving that feat we are providing most of our own vegetables for our own consumption in the summer and are hopeful this year that we will have enough garlic, carrots, parsnips, potatoes and onions along with frozen tomatoes to last us through the winter. I’d love to try chickens to have our own eggs, perhaps I’ll have to investigate that over the winter.
