Early Harvest

We have been enjoying spinach, lettuce and swiss chard from our garden since May 20. This is the earliest we have every picked greens from the garden. While the warm spring this year helped, our idea to seed some greens the first week of April under protection also gave us a jump start. Interestingly the greens we started from seed in the garden have been better producers by far than the starts put out in early May. Our first salad from the garden was spinach salad with onions and strawberries with an apple cider and maple syrup dressing enjoyed on May 25.
